How Shared Wisdom and Honest Support Keep Us Going
There’s a saying I hold close: “We’re all sick, just on different days.” 🤝
It’s a simple truth with a big message—we’re all in this thing together. Today, you might have it all together 💪🏾. Tomorrow, you might be the one reaching out for help 🤲🏾. And that’s not a sign of failure. It’s a reminder that healing, growth, and wisdom aren’t permanent trophies—they’re part of a cycle. We pass them around, we share them, and we take turns leaning on each other 🔄.
We like to believe there are people who’ve “arrived”—the ones who’ve figured it all out. Therapists. Spiritual leaders. Elders. Mentors. But I always say:
“If your therapist doesn’t have a therapist, that’s not a good therapist.” 🧠✨
Even the healer needs healing. Even the strong have soft spots. And anyone who says they don’t? They’re probably just hiding it—or not ready to face it yet 🙈.
This is how 12-step programs work. They’re built on mutual support, shared experience, and the understanding that no one stays up or down forever. Everyone contributes. Everyone matters. You don’t have to be perfect—you just have to be honest ✨.
Even as a mother, I’ve had moments where my own child spoke a simple truth that brought me back to myself 👩🏾👧. It wasn’t about age or authority—it was about timing, connection, and presence. Wisdom comes through whoever’s ready to deliver it, not just those with titles or status 🕊️.
🧵 We’re All Part of the Quilt
We’re like patches in a giant quilt—each with our own colors, textures, and stories. Some of us are stitched with joy, some with grief. Some patches are faded, some are bold. But together, we form something whole. A tapestry of humanity.
And just like in a quilt, one patch doesn’t outshine the others—it adds to them. That’s what happens when we show up, even in our mess. Our presence contributes. Our stories heal. Our moments of clarity become someone else’s light 💡.
We all take turns being the strong one 🛠️. We all take turns needing the grace of others 🤍. So let’s stop pretending that strength means always being okay. And let’s stop writing people off when they’re struggling. Because today’s “down and out” could be the one who helps rebuild your hope tomorrow 🔧🌄.
Let’s build spaces where it’s okay to take turns.
To teach, to learn, to cry, to rise. 🌿
To be one patch in a living, breathing quilt—stitched together by our willingness to keep showing up.
